| A message from the President |
| |
This year SGA is working hard for you, the student. You have placed your trust in us. We realize with great trust comes great responsibility and we are committed to a mission of service to the student body. It’s an exciting time to be involved in Student Government. I have high goals for my term as Student Body President. We are pleased that coming to campus soon, in conjunction with the TCU Rec Center, will be a SGA Frisbee Golf Course. Students can also expect SGA sponsored mile markers around the Worth Hills jogging trail. This semester, SGA is working to bring you a new way to use your student ID. Hopefully, you will soon be able to use your TCU ID at off-campus dining and shopping locations. We are also looking to move the Pass/No Credit deadline later in the semester and are advocating a completely wireless campus. Furthermore, SGA supports a proportional increase in scholarships (merit and need based) with tuition increases. As I said, SGA is on a mission of service to the student body.
Although your Student Government has many items on our agenda, we are never too busy to hear from you. Please feel free to contact me here, by simply emailing me at jace.thompson@tcu.edu or by calling the SGA office at 817.257.7924. We can also be reached at sga@tcu.edu and are eager to hear your ideas and concerns. |

| About the President |
| |
My first day on campus I had no clue where my classes were, where the cool spot to eat lunch was, what I was going to major in, or what to do that night. I immediately began to make TCU my new home and have loved it ever since. I have discovered that TCU is not a place where I am simply going to college, but rather, a place where I am experiencing college. The key to a successful college career is involvement, I encourage every student to find something he or she is passionate about and bring that passion to an organization or club at TCU. With over 200 student organizations, there truly is something here for everyone.
The best part about being SGA President is meeting so many students and having the ability to represent such a great student body. It’s such a rewarding experience representing the TCU Student Body to the administration, Board of Trustees and greater Fort Worth community. In addition to my commitments with SGA, I have been involved for two years with the first-year-experience as an Orientation Student Assistant (OSA), am a member of the Chancellor’s Leadership Program, Omicron Delta Kappa Leadership Fraternity, Order of Omega Greek Honor Society, and VP of Sigma Phi Epsilon.
Being President, I have found that my free time has decreased dramatically. I catch myself running to class, literally, and eating quesadillas from Ultimate Baja at the same time. Even though I may not be able to facebook, or socialize as much as my friends, the job is every bit as exciting as it is time consuming. I wouldn’t trade this experience for anything! |
