Application FAQ:
Q: I’m joining other campus organizations, do I have time for Frog Aides?
A: Absolutely! Most Frog Aides find themselves to be heavily involved in many parts of campus life, ranging from Connections and academic groups to Greek organizations, religious groups, other leadership programs, ROTC, volunteer work, etc.. Many Frog Aides also work part-time and still have plenty of time to devote to school work!

Q: How is Frog Aides different from other leadership programs?
A: Frog Aides is student-planned, student-run, and student-led. You don’t attend lectures, we don’t ask you to read books, and you don’t just talk about leading change – you actually do so. You’ll get personalized leadership training from the Executive Team and upper-classmen SGA mentors who get to know you well. Frog Aides links you with real TCU leaders and teaches you the ins-and-outs of SGA and the University. Through the program you’ll meet some of your best friends, and you won’t just talk about being a campus leader, you’ll be one.

Q: I’m required to take “Connections;” what’s the difference between Frog Aides and “Connections”?
A: Frog Aides and Connections are vastly different programs. In Connections you will explore, “campus resources, academic success, priority management, campus involvement, and finding your natural strengths.” These skills will allow you to excel as a student at TCU, but Frog Aides will allow you to impact our campus by further developing your leadership skills. All incoming TCU students are required to participate in Connections, but Frog Aides is a highly selective program that will place you with TCU’s top emerging leaders.

Q: Can I join/participate in other parts of Student Government while serving as a Frog Aide?
A: Absolutely. There are two seats in the House of Student Representatives reserved for first year students. If elected, you are welcome to serve as a Frog Aide and Representative concurrently. SGA’s Programming Council is made up of Project Teams that run events including Homecoming, Howdy Week, Holidays at TCU, Family Weekend, and more. You are welcome and invited to be involved in these teams as well. In addition, other SGA leadership opportunities are likely to arise during your freshman year that we encourage all freshmen to apply for.

Q: Who selects the class of Frog Aides?
A: The Executive and Leadership Teams will dedicate countless hours to reviewing applications, conducting interviews, and analyzing group activities. Relax. The process will be fun, and you’ll find that we’re easy to talk to. We’re college students, too, and we love TCU a whole lot.

Q: What’s the time commitment?
A: Frog Aides meets weekly on Tuesdays at 7:00 PM. Meetings last 45-90 minutes, and they are a required part of the program. You will work on SGA projects of your choice. The times for these projects vary, but expect around an hour a week. In the spring, you will focus on the $10,000 “Big Project,” which will require around the same amount of time. There will be a mandatory retreat in the fall, and we will plan various optional (but awesome) social events throughout the year. The more you put in to the program, the more you will get out and the more prepared you will be to lead the campus community throughout your four (or five) years at TCU!

Q: What do you want on my resume?
A: We want to be able to get to know you. Please keep your resume 1-2 pages and indicate what you were involved in high school, past leadership roles, awards, and any other meaningful experiences that you would wish for us to know about you.

Q: How long should my answers to each question be?
A: Answer the questions in a way that conveys your personality. Please do not exceed two pages for the numbered questions on the application.

Q: How should I prepare for the interview?
A: Relax! We’re just going to sit down and chat about life, Frog Aides, and TCU for a few minutes. The process is painless, we promise. We’ll discuss why you want to be part of the program and what your plans are as a future leader. We think we’re pretty fun, so hopefully you’ll enjoy our time together, too!

Q: What’s this group activity?
A: The group activity is an opportunity for you to meet other potential Frog Aides. You’ll be given a task and time to brainstorm, organize, and present a creative solution. The activity is fun and will take less than thirty minutes.

Q: How many Frog Aides do you plan to accept?
A: Last year we received approximately 80 applications and accepted 39 Frog Aides. In previous years we received fewer applications and accepted fewer members into the program. The Executive works hard to select as many qualified applicants as possible while keeping the program small and selective enough to provide a personalized leadership development experience for each Frog Aide.

Q: Why do you want my picture with the application?
A: We use the pictures as an aid for us to remember your name and faces during the selection process. If you are selected, we make even more use of the photo so that we can get to know you quickly. Please attach the photo last, as it is not used during the application and selection process.
